Non-profit. We provide support for Ukrainians in Finland. All online. We provide information, legal support, emotional support.
Intro to FinUA web app approach
Start: we just used Notion. Initially we used Notion for everything. We have exhausted its capabilities. And we decided it has to be an app now.
What we wanted to do is keep a very simple look and feel.
Set up
- we are a non-profit, we cannot afford to pay
- our volunteers work online, we do not have an office
- they work asynchronously, they cannot be bottlenecks
- the app has to have fast iteration velocity
Why do we need a DS?
DS exists to help them work in async mode.
DS exists to provide shortcuts to designers and developers to create components.
Start
Identify what we are NOT going to do:
- create UI components from scratch
- create color palette from scratch
- maintain big library of variables
- look too “corporaty” or “to hyped”
- have complicated UI
So, what to do?
Margo Roi You do not get Tailwind.
